Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a Project Manager to oversee complex federal aid resurfacing, urban widening, and bridge projects, and to assist Project Engineers on major initiatives.

Responsibilities include reviewing reports and estimates, monitoring QA/QC, erosion and traffic control, and coordinating inspectors. A bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with one year of experience (or equivalent) is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management and one year of engineering or construction management work experience, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects of minor to advanced complexity and assist Project Engineers on major projects.
• Review reports, estimates and final plans prepared by subordinates.
• Monitor QA/QC, erosion control and traffic control activities for compliance with approved plans.
• Coordinate inspectors and assist in training.
• Perform project inspections and prepare monthly construction estimates and final plans.
• Interact with the public, contractors, utilities and officials as necessary on behalf of the department.
