Job summary

Mead & Hunt, Inc. seeks a Transportation Planner to join its Mid-Atlantic Community Planning Department. The role leads and supports multidisciplinary planning projects to improve safety, mobility and quality of life in communities across the Mid-Atlantic.

The successful candidate will blend project delivery with policy research, client service and staff leadership, advancing equitable, implementable transportation solutions while contributing to proposals and business development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in planning or related field plus eight years of experience required.
• 12+ years of relevant experience is also acceptable.
• AICP or professional certification is preferred.
• Experience with Vision Zero, Complete Streets, or similar planning frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support transportation plans, studies, programs, and implementation strategies across Vision Zero and multimodal planning.
• Manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and deliverables with clients and stakeholders.
• Prepare technical memoranda, reports, presentations, graphics, and policy analyses.
• Plan stakeholder meetings, workshops, interviews, and public engagement activities.
• Research transportation policies, funding programs, and emerging practices in the Mid-Atlantic.
• Mentor junior staff and coordinate project work.
• Contribute to proposals, scopes of work, and client development.
• Support business development by strengthening client relationships.
• Collaborate across planners, engineers, designers, and other disciplines.
• Grow responsibilities in data analysis and long-range planning.
