Job summary

Trane Technologies is seeking a transportation planner to build and optimize daily shipment plans using Oracle Transportation Management (OTM). You will assign truckloads, partner with customers and carriers, and proactively address delays while ensuring efficient utilization of trailers.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and experience with transportation management systems, with strong Excel skills and teamwork. Hybrid onsite/work-from-home Fridays offered.

Responsibilities

• Build, optimize, and tender daily shipment plans using the Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) system for assigned facilities.
• Assign truckload shipments to designated carriers based on routing guides, cost parameters, and service requirements.
• Coordinate with customers to schedule deliveries and resolve exceptions in real time.
• Escalate loading or delivery bottlenecks and inventory inquiries as the primary point of contact.
• Monitor logistics KPIs and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.

Where is the work: Monday to Thursday, work onsite with your colleagues. Fridays, choose your work location, balancing what your work requires.

What you will do:

• Build, optimize, and tender daily shipment plans using the Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) system for assigned manufacturing and distribution center facilities.
• Assign truckload shipments to designated carriers based on routing guides, cost parameters, and service requirements.
• Partner with site leaders and carrier operations to align daily shipment plans with available capacity, proactively communicate shipping updates and delays with internal and external stakeholders.
• Maximise trailer utilisation by enforcing strict truckload consolidation and routing standards using available to plan inventory.
• Coordinate directly with customers to schedule deliveries and resolve real-time over the road exceptions dynamically.
• Act as the primary escalation point for carriers, customers, and internal stakeholders to resolve loading or delivery bottlenecks, operational escalations, and inventory inquiries.
• Continuously look for process improvement opportunities, using available resources and analytical skills to analyse data to develop and implement productivity initiatives.
• Consistently monitor logistics key performance indicators (KPIs) to pinpoint network inefficiencies and support cross-functional projects aimed at driving system enhancements and operational improvements.
• Support other transportation planners as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

What you will bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, operations, business, or other related field preferred; equivalent experience considered Experience with transportation management systems preferred Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with customers, vendors, and colleagues Attention to detail, problem-solving aptitude, and the ability to manage high-volume transactions in a fast-paced environment.
