Job description

The Transportation Planner is responsible for activities related to inbound less than truckload (LTL) and truckload shipments. The planner coordinates with vendors, carriers, and Multiquip warehouses the carrier booking requirements, creating and updating the transportation management system (TMS) order/shipment information, providing shipment documents (BOL and shipping labels), arrange vendor and carrier pick up, and schedule delivery appointments (if required) with Multiquip warehouses. Transportation Planners are also responsible for LTL outbound shipments in reviewing booking requests from warehouses, order consolidation and updating orders/shipments, and assigning alternate LTL carriers in the TMS. The candidate must have experience with Multiquip Shipping process or freight brokerage managed transportation program/system.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Monitor inbound vendor shipment requests and create the Purchase orders in the TMS.
• Coordinate with purchasing/buyers and vendors the list of truckload transfer shipments one week in advance.
• Update orders/shipments in the TMS, and provide shipping documents (BOL and Shipping label to the vendor).
• Create vendor order and shipments in the TMS, update the shipments, and coordinate the pickup with the carrier and vendor.
• Book shipments with the carrier, coordinate the pick up with the carrier and the vendor, and schedule delivery appointments with Multiquip warehouses.
• Monitor and resolve inbound shipment pick up delays/exceptions with Multiquip warehouses and carrier terminals.
• Primary escalation contact for LTL exceptions (urgent shipment request, pick up, and in transit – exceptions).

Other Duties:

• Monitor import container shipments and coordinate the trans-loading and consolidation with the San Bernardino warehouse to the Texas CE warehouse.
• Assist and back-up for the Transportation Planner Specialist and Freight Claims Specialist.
• Conduct business within Multiquip JSox policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Perform other duties that the Transportation Manager may assign.

Education and Work Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain/Logistics/Operation and/or three years of experience in freight brokerage managed transportation.
Brokerage, LTL and truckload training certifications.
Knowledge of SAP systems is a plus.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Compensation and Benefits:

• Base pay range of $28.00 - 38.00 an hour.
