Job summary

Dot Foods, Inc. in University Park, IL is seeking an Assistant Transportation Manager to assist the Director of Transportation in optimizing fleet performance across recruiting, retention, operations, safety, budgeting, and related duties.

You will coordinate with dispatch for efficient fleet utilization, assist with vehicle safety issues, support dispatch and traffic management goals, train drivers, assist with budgets and recruiting, and manage the on-board computer system and hours of service

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent Dot Foods experience.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and planning skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Computer skills, experience in using Microsoft Office programs/applications.
• Ability to function in a multi-task environment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with dispatch for efficient and effective fleet resource utilization.
• Assist with vehicle safety issues.
• Support overall dispatch and traffic management goals.
• Coordinate training for drivers based on individual performance within key areas.
• Assist with budget preparation and execution.
• Assist with recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new drivers.
• Manage the on-board computer system and hours of service for all drivers.
• Lead continuous improvement efforts while applying lean thinking and tools to eliminate waste.
