Job summary

Dot Foods, Inc. in University Park, IL, is seeking an Assistant Transportation Manager to assist the Director of Transportation with fleet performance, budgeting, safety, and staffing. You will help recruit, onboard drivers and manage operations for efficient service.

The role schedules Mon-Fri 8AM-5PM with on-call responsibilities; travel about 2–3 nights per year to training or meetings, and you will lead continuous improvement initiatives using lean methods.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent Dot Foods experience.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and planning skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Computer skills with MS Office applications.
• Ability to function in a multi-task environment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with dispatch for fleet resource utilization.
• Assist with vehicle safety issues.
• Conduct driver reviews.
• Support dispatch and traffic management goals.
• Coordinate training for drivers based on performance.
• Assist with budget preparation and execution.
• Assist with recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new drivers.
• Manage the on-board computer system and hours of service for all drivers.
• Lead continuous improvement efforts using lean thinking to eliminate waste.
