Job summary

BJ’s Wholesale Club in Elkton, MD seeks a Transportation Manager to oversee daily transportation operations including shipping, safety, and backhaul profitability. You will drive cost efficiency while ensuring DOT compliance and high service levels.

Responsibilities include analyzing routes, staffing, and coordinating with carriers, vendors and internal teams to deliver reliable on-time performance, while promoting excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and general transportation regulations.
• Knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (TMS) preferred.
• Basic knowledge of DOT Hours of Service.
• Ability to understand and manage budgets.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and direct daily operation of all transportation functions including shipping, safety, and profitable backhaul management.
• Analyze transportation functions and programs to ensure accuracy, efficiency, DOT compliance, and profitability.
• Identify opportunities for improvement and implement solutions for transportation functions and programs.
• Strategically analyze routing and scheduling to ensure on-time performance.
