Job summary

Werner Enterprises, Inc. in West Columbia, SC is seeking a Transportation Manager to build and maintain strong driver relationships and coordinate loads with one or more Logistics Managers.

The role requires collaboration across multiple departments to meet customer expectations and drive value. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree and 2–3 years fleet management experience, with supervisory exposure and strong organizational and tech skills.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree (Business Admin, Marketing or Transportation/Logistics) and/or two to three years of fleet management or transportation experience in the truckload industry preferred.
• Six months to one year of supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong organizational skills, proven management ability, and skill in operating a computer terminal and satellite communications system required.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain driver relationships by understanding and meeting driver needs (home time, payroll, equipment issues, etc.).
• Partner with Dedicated and Associate Logistics Managers to optimize driver loads based on origin, destination, freight type, miles, stops, and driver needs.
• Align with customer dynamics, service expectations, and goals to improve value for the Customer and Werner.
• Interface with billing, vans, customer service, risk, safety, payroll, fuel, maintenance, and external vendors.
• Work with the Dedicated Logistics Manager and/or Operations Manager to maintain a full board of drivers.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Dedicated Logistics Manager.
• Attend work regularly and on time according to schedule.
