Job summary

McLane Company, Inc. is seeking a Director of Operations-Designate to oversee the Transportation Department and ensure 24-hour coverage. You will plan, direct, and coordinate all delivery and backhaul activities, maintaining smooth, accurate, and efficient product movement across routes.

You will supervise drivers and staff, ensure on-time scheduling, and drive continuous improvement. Strong DOT knowledge, reporting, and leadership experience are essential for this role.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4-year degree in logistics, business, accounting, or a related field.
• Have 3+ years of experience in all facets of outbound transportation, preferably in the food service industry.
• Mainframe software knowledge related to record keeping (AS/400) and familiarity with Excel/Word/Access.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• 2-3 years of accounting, planning, and analytical/ reporting experience preferred.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business materials and financial statements.

Responsibilities

• Report accidents/unsafe conditions to management.
• Ensure compliance with Federal DOT regulations and safety standards; keep fleet safe.
• Maintain routes and scheduling to ensure on-time departures.
• Post weekly and next-week scheduling; maintain accessible working copies.
• Facilitate communication within management and with teammates.
• Provide training to maintain an efficient workforce; enforce policies.
• Monitor productivity data including unload rates, routes, and stops.
• Assist with R&D of new techniques to increase efficiency.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
