Job summary

McLane Company, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Transportation Manager to oversee a domicile within Transportation and provide 24-hour coverage. The role supports warehousing with top-tier logistics services and leads a trained, staffed department.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field with at least 3 years of outbound transportation experience. Proficiency in Excel, Word, Access, and PeopleNet is preferred, along with driver-management skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field preferred.
• 3 years of experience in outbound transportation or distribution.
• Proficient with Excel, Word, Access; PeopleNet or similar programs preferred.
• Experience managing drivers: hiring, training, motivating, and resolving teammate relations issues.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals, and inter-company memos/outside correspondence.

Responsibilities

• Direct and motivate teammates and supervise transportation dispatchers.
• Coordinate investigation of accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions per safety standards.
• Maintain knowledge of Federal DOT regulations and safety standards.
• Keep fleet in safe condition and comply with company rules.
• Oversee scheduling of Transportation teammates and management staff.
• Facilitate communication within the management team and with teammates.
