Job summary

McLane Global, a leading food-grade logistics company based in the United States, seeks a Director of Transportation Management to lead the Managed Transportation division. This role reports to the leadership team and focuses on strategic planning, carrier relationships, network optimization, and customer management to drive service excellence and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or related field.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in transportation management, preferably within a 3PL or logistics company.
• Proven leadership experience with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
• Strong understanding of transportation regulations and compliance requirements.
• Experience with TMS software and technology platforms used in transportation management.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement transportation management strategies that support business objectives and growth targets.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and operational efficiencies.
• Lead transportation network design and optimization projects to enhance service levels and reduce costs.
• Oversee daily operations of the transportation department, including dispatch, route planning, load management, and freight optimization.
• Manage the end-to-end transportation process, ensuring on-time delivery, service quality, and compliance with contractual agreements.
• Lead a team of transportation professionals and foster a culture of accountability, excellence, and continuous improvement.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with carriers, and negotiate contracts, rates, and service terms.
• Monitor carrier performance through KPIs and metrics, taking corrective action when necessary to ensure high standards of service and compliance.
