US Foods in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Transportation Manager to lead a safety‑driven team responsible for on‑time outbound shipments and compliant operations. You will coach drivers, manage performance, and partner with leaders to deliver best‑in‑class service.

This role emphasizes process improvement, DOT compliance, and a culture that prioritizes people and safety while meeting customer needs across distribution centers.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of experience in transportation/delivery or warehouse distribution.
• Minimum of one year of experience overseeing a workforce.
• Experience as a driver a plus.
• Broad knowledge of transportation/delivery operations, methods and procedures.
• Strong leadership, communication and people development skills.
• Strong understanding of DOT requirements. Familiarity with inventory control, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.
• Ability to interpret financial and operational data.
• Basic computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office).
• Travel: -10% travel required, typically for mandatory meetings and/or training.
• Education/Training: High school diploma or GED; college degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead with a safety mindset and promote a safety-first culture in the Transportation department.
• Oversee and develop drivers and Transportation associates through coaching and policy training.
• Discuss performance with Senior Transportation Managers and create improvement plans.
• Create an environment of upward communication and motivate the team to meet goals.
• Direct and supervise Transportation staff; drive engagement and uphold US Foods values.
• Participate in interviewing and hiring Transportation personnel and review performance.
• Ensure accurate and timely outbound shipments and compliance with DOT regulations.
• Identify waste, improve processes, and implement cost-effective solutions.
