Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of experience in transportation/delivery or warehouse distribution.
• Minimum of one year of experience overseeing a workforce.
• Experience as a driver a plus.
• Broad knowledge of transportation/delivery operations, methods and procedures.
• Strong leadership, communication and people development skills.
• Strong understanding of DOT requirements. Familiarity with inventory control, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.
• Ability to interpret financial and operational data.
• Basic computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office).
• Travel: 10% travel required, typically for mandatory meetings and/or training.
• Education/Training: High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead with a safety mindset to create a safety-first culture in the Transportation department.
• Oversee and develop drivers and Transportation associates through coaching and training.
• Discuss performance with Sr. Transportation Managers and create improvement plans.
• Foster upward communication and motivate the team to meet goals.
• Direct and supervise Transportation staff, drive engagement and uphold US Foods values.
• Participate in interviewing and hiring Transportation personnel with supervision.
• Monitor production goals and maintain accuracy and customer satisfaction.
• Identify waste and improve processes for safety and efficiency.
• Schedule shifts using planning tools like Excel.
