Job summary

National DCP, LLC is seeking a Transportation Manager in Greensboro, NC to lead transportation operations, directing a team of supervisors and drivers to ensure safe, legal, and timely freight delivery to member stores in the assigned territory.

The role requires strong leadership, budgeting, and regulatory compliance, with focus on cost saving initiatives and fleet management. Regular schedule is Monday–Friday, 7 am–5 pm, with a collaborative, growth‑minded environment.

Qualifications

• BS/BA preferred or equivalent degree.
• 5-7 years multi-state transportation management experience in food distribution.
• Demonstrated mastery of Federal Motor Carrier Rules and Regulations.
• OSHA standards knowledge.
• Proficient in MS Office; SAP experience preferred.
• Ortec and Motive experience helpful.
• Class A CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate Transportation Supervisor and route drivers to maximize product delivery performance.
• Investigate and resolve customer complaints related to in-store service and delivery.
• Ensure compliance with all quality assurance standards.
• Develop annual cost savings aligned with company strategy.
• Manage department budget and assist in cost analysis.
• Oversee hiring, scheduling, and personnel termination for transportation team.
• Supervise and direct transportation staff; monitor performance weekly (Motive/Ortec).
• Promote team development and communicate process updates.
• Ensure safety and regulatory policy compliance; manage fleet utilization and DVIR/PM repairs.
• Ensure DOT hours of service compliance and address violations.
• Collaborate with Safety Manager on safe driving techniques and DOT regulations.

The Transportation Manager provides direction and oversight of all transportation-related functions at his/her assigned territory and associated transportation hubs.

Responsibilities

What you will do:

• Responsible for direction and coordination of the Transportation Supervisor and route drivers to ensure maximum performance relative to product delivery, service, and good customer relations
• Ensure customer complaints are investigated and resolved related to in-store service and delivery
• Ensure full compliance with all company quality assurance standards
• Develops annual cost savings initiatives that are aligned with the company's strategic plan
• Manage the department’s annual operating budget and assist in cost analysis
• Oversee the hiring, supervision, scheduling, and termination of personnel.
• Effectively schedules, supervises, and directs transportation personnel
• Monitors Driver performance weekly through Motive and Ortec. Counsels Drivers on performance issues and areas for improvement.
• Creates a team-oriented environment by developing supervisors, conducting performance appraisals, and communicating updates to processes, procedures, and policies
• Ensures that personnel understand and implement safety and regulatory policies and procedures
• Manage fleet utilization, tracking the status of vehicle/equipment, monitoring equipment on the Out of Service report, and holding all equipment service providers accountable for repairs identified within DVIRs and PM’s.
• Ensures compliance with DOT hours of service by giving immediate feedback and taking corrective action when they become aware of HOS issues. Supervisors will utilize the NDCP standard disciplinary action outlined by the driver’s expectations that corresponds to the risk of the violation.
• Works with the Safety Manager on proper safe driving techniques while using the Motive AI Cameras system to identify risky behaviors, proper lifting, and training in all required DOT regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned

Supervision exercised: This position has supervisory responsibilities for the TSR and transportation associates, up to 50 associates.

Qualifications

What you bring:

• BS/BA preferred
• 5-7 years of multi-state transportation management experience in the food distribution industry
• Demonstrated mastery of the Federal Motor Carrier Rules and Regulations
• Knowledgeable of related OSHA standards and regulations
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
• SAP experience preferred.
• On Board Computer System Experience required, Motive preferred.
• Prior experience with routing software, Ortec preferred.
• Experience with 3rd-party maintenance vendors
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong leadership and decision-making capabilities required
• Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills required
• Willing and able to work flexible/extended work schedules, as needed
• Class A CDL preferred
