About The Role

The Transportation Manager is responsible for assisting all business processes and operations in the Transportation Department. The role involves regular meetings with customers, drivers, escorts, and management, as well as coordinating and scheduling deliveries to achieve 100% customer satisfaction and opportunities for advancement.

Responsibilities

1. Manage and organize office operations and procedures, including word processing, spreadsheets, correspondence, filing, requisition of supplies, and clerical services.
2. Coordinate activities of various departments or workers within the department.
3. Evaluate transportation department processes, update procedures, and develop new forms to improve workflow efficiency.
4. Supervise a larger team and more varied office activities, similar to an Office Supervisor role.
5. Review clerical and personnel records for accuracy and completeness.
6. Plan and coordinate scheduling with customers, drivers, and escorts.
7. Prepare activity reports for management regarding shipments.
8. Assist with ordering permits and coordinate DOT requirements and compliance.
9. Maintain organization, attention to detail, multi-tasking, and dependability.
10. Maintain excellent phone communication skills with a positive personality.
11. Be available to be on the phone regularly and outside normal business hours.

Minimum Qualifications

1. 2-year degree preferred or equivalent experience.
2. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
4. Self-starter with a strong work ethic.
5. Ability to work under deadlines in a complex environment.
6. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
