Job summary

Long Island Rail Road is seeking an Investigations Manager, Transportation within the Corporate Safety department in New York. This role conducts accident investigations and in-depth analysis to identify hazards, prepare final investigative reports, and recommend corrective actions to prevent future incidents.

You will lead investigations, testify when needed, coordinate with regulatory agencies, and develop safety improvements while maintaining a safe work environment and ensuring compliance

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years as a qualified Locomotive Engineer or Conductor.
• Associate degree in Engineering, Safety, or related field; or 2 additional years of related experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Formal Accident Investigation Training / Certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Investigate accidents/incidents for cause identification and mitigation.
• Prepare investigation reports and presentations for Senior Staff, Department heads, and departmental management staff.
• Track the status of the implementation of recommendations and evaluate them for effectiveness.
• Develop corrective actions including policies, procedures, training, and new technologies as a result of the investigation of incidents.
• Develop and foster professional relationships with all departments, regional transportation authorities, and professional organizations.
