Job summary

ATCS's Construction Services group is expanding in Asheville, North Carolina. We are seeking motivated Construction Inspectors to support transportation infrastructure projects across the state.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of inspection experience, knowledge of NCDOT practices, and the ability to obtain required certifications. We offer a competitive hourly wage, overtime eligibility, and comprehensive benefits. Training opportunities available.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Valid driver's license.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office, email, and tablets.

Responsibilities

• Monitor contractor operations to ensure quality control and compliance with project plans, specs, standards, and contract requirements for roadway, bridge, structure, and transportation construction projects.
• Inspect roadway, bridge, utility, and maintenance construction activities to verify compliance with contract documents and NCDOT requirements.
• Review, interpret, and enforce construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Prepare accurate and thorough project documentation, including daily reports, quantity calculations, field measurements, and inspection records.
• Compute daily pay quantities and assist with preparation of field adjustment estimates.
• Communicate construction issues, schedule concerns, and potential contract conflicts to project management and assist in resolving field challenges.
• Conduct materials testing and sampling in accordance with NCDOT requirements and applicable testing procedures.
• Verify compliance with work zone traffic control requirements, environmental permits, erosion and sediment control measures, and project safety standards.
• Coordinate with contractors, project teams, and agency representatives to ensure successful project delivery.
