Job summary

ATCS is seeking motivated Construction Inspectors in Asheville, North Carolina to support transportation infrastructure projects. Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of inspection experience and knowledge of NCDOT practices. Certifications are preferred but willingness to obtain them is welcome.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED; valid driver's license.
• Preferred 1–2 years of inspection experience on roadway/bridge projects.
• NCDOT certifications are desirable; willingness to obtain certifications.

Responsibilities

• Monitor contractor operations to ensure quality control and compliance with project plans, specs, standards and contract requirements.
• Inspect roadway, bridge, utility, and maintenance construction activities for compliance with documents and NCDOT requirements.
• Review, interpret, and enforce construction plans, specifications and contract documents.
• Prepare accurate daily reports, quantity calculations, field measurements and inspection records.
• Compute daily pay quantities and assist with field adjustment estimates.
• Communicate construction issues and schedule concerns to project management and help resolve field challenges.
• Conduct materials testing and sampling per NCDOT requirements and testing procedures.
• Verify compliance with work zone traffic control, environmental permits, erosion and sediment control, and safety standards.
• Coordinate with contractors and agency representatives to ensure successful project delivery.
