Job summary

ATCS seeks motivated Construction Inspectors to support transportation infrastructure projects across North Carolina. Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of inspection experience and knowledge of NCDOT practices.

NCDOT certifications are preferred but not required if willingness to obtain them. We value individuals passionate about construction, committed to quality, and eager to build long-term careers in transportation infrastructure.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Strong reading and interpretation of construction plans and specs.
Proficiency in basic math including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
Ability to read and interpret contract documents and standards.

Responsibilities

Monitor contractor operations for quality control and compliance with plans and contract requirements.
Inspect roadway, bridge, utility, and transportation construction activities for compliance.
Review, interpret, and enforce construction plans and specifications.
Prepare daily reports, quantity calculations, field measurements, and inspection records.
Compute daily pay quantities and assist with field adjustment estimates.
Communicate issues to project management and assist in resolving field challenges.
Conduct materials testing and sampling per NCDOT requirements.
Verify compliance with work zone traffic control, permits, erosion control, and safety standards.
Coordinate with contractors and agency representatives to ensure project delivery.
