Job summary

ATCS seeks motivated Construction Inspectors to support transportation infrastructure projects across North Carolina. Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of inspection experience and knowledge of NCDOT practices; those with NCDOT certifications are preferred.

Training is available for qualified candidates to obtain needed certificates. We offer a competitive hourly wage, overtime eligibility and an annual bonus target of 2%, plus a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, standards and contract documents.
• Working knowledge of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.

Responsibilities

• Monitor contractor operations to ensure quality control and compliance with project plans, specs, standards and contract requirements.
• Inspect roadway, bridge, utility and maintenance construction activities for compliance with documents and NCDOT requirements.
• Review, interpret and enforce construction plans, specs and contract documents.
• Prepare daily reports, quantity calculations, field measurements and inspection records.
• Compute daily pay quantities and assist with field adjustment estimates.
• Communicate construction issues and schedule concerns to project management and assist in resolving field challenges.
• Conduct materials testing and sampling per NCDOT requirements and testing procedures.
• Verify compliance with work zone traffic control, environmental permits, erosion and sediment control, and safety standards.
• Coordinate with contractors, project teams and agency representatives to ensure project delivery.
