Job summary

ATCS is expanding its Construction Services group in North Carolina and seeks motivated Construction Inspectors to support transportation infrastructure projects. Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of inspection experience, NCDOT knowledge, and a willingness to obtain certifications.

We offer a competitive hourly rate ($17–$45) with overtime and a target bonus, plus comprehensive benefits and PTO. Training is available for qualified applicants and a long-term career path in transportation

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Valid driver's license is required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and contract documents.
• Working knowledge of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.

Responsibilities

• Monitor contractor operations for quality control and compliance with project plans, specifications, standards, and contract requirements for roadway, bridge, structure, and transportation construction projects.
• Inspect roadway, bridge, utility, and maintenance construction activities to verify compliance with contract documents and NCDOT requirements.
• Review, interpret, and enforce construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Prepare accurate and thorough project documentation, including daily reports, quantity calculations, field measurements, and inspection records.
• Compute daily pay quantities and assist with preparation of field adjustment estimates.
• Communicate construction issues, schedule concerns, and potential contract conflicts to project management and assist in resolving field challenges.
• Conduct materials testing and sampling in accordance with NCDOT requirements and applicable testing procedures.
• Verify compliance with work zone traffic control requirements, environmental permits, erosion and sediment control measures, and project safety standards.
• Coordinate with contractors, project teams, and agency representatives to ensure successful project delivery.
