Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED; a 4-year degree is preferred.
• Strong employee relations and clear verbal communication with vendors, shippers, customers and company personnel.

Responsibilities

• Monitor driver performance and use trip master and control features.
• Maintain records of driver pay, equipment maintenance and performance.
• Review driver logs and paperwork for accuracy and policy/DOT compliance.
• Monitor equipment for safe operation and minimize breakdowns.
• Order parts and equipment used in driver performance.
• Review routing to improve efficiency.
• Hire, train, direct and discipline transportation personnel.
• Plan and schedule assignments and process weekly payroll.
• Verify vendor invoices and complete accounts payable vouchers.
• Monitor fuel reports, miles and fuel economy.
• Monitor monthly expenses and adjust plans accordingly.
• Fulfill DOT requirements.
• Review backhauls for profitability.
