Job summary

Sysco’s Sygma Southern California operation seeks an experienced Transportation Supervisor to oversee delivery efficiency, driver performance, and cost controls. The role emphasizes safe operation, payroll planning, and compliance with DOT regulations.

The ideal candidate will bring 5–8 years of supervisor experience, a CDL, and strong vendor/customer communication skills, with responsibilities spanning routing, equipment upkeep, and workforce leadership.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; a 4-year degree is preferred.
• 5–8 years of transportation supervisor experience and 4 years of transportation experience.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with vendors, shippers, and customers.
• CDL license required; CDL Class A or B holders will be designated as CDL drivers and must comply with DOT regulations.

Responsibilities

• Closely monitor driver performance via the trip master and other control features.
• Maintain detailed records of driver pay, equipment maintenance and equipment performance.
• Review driver logs and paperwork to ensure accuracy and DOT compliance.
• Closely monitor equipment to ensure safe operation and minimize breakdowns.
• Order necessary parts and equipment used in driver performance of responsibilities.
• Review routing and make necessary adjustments to ensure optimal efficiency.
• Hire, train, direct, and discipline transportation personnel to achieve effective use of assets.
• Plan and schedule assignments for transportation personnel; process the weekly payroll.
• Verify vendor invoices and complete A/P vouchers.
• Monitor trip records and fuel reports for mileage, fuel cost, and fuel economy.
• Monitor monthly expenses in relation to planning and make changes.
• Perform necessary DOT requirements.
• Review backhauls to ensure profitability.
