Socket.dev in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Transportation Manager II to oversee direct driver management and ensure safe, timely freight movement. You will plan routes, monitor performance, and coordinate with drivers, customers, and internal teams while maintaining DOT compliance.

The role requires adaptable scheduling across day, night, and weekend shifts, strong leadership, and analytical skills to optimize fleet operations and profitability.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and 2-3 years of experience in transportation/logistics or related fields.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends.
• Strong communication and relationship-building abilities with customers and staff.
• Ability to analyze situations, make informed decisions, and maintain accuracy.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Willingness to travel to account and customer locations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with drivers and safety to minimize turnover and maximize productivity.
• Fill in for absent personnel and support special projects to optimize fleet operations and profitability.
• Train and orient drivers and staff, including systems training for internal and third-party (customer) platforms.
• Analyze fleet operations, measure KPIs, and create customer-specific reporting and financial analysis.
• Manage inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment in market.
• Handle payroll, driver counseling, accident reviews, invoicing, and reporting.
• Oversee yard operations, inspections, maintenance coordination, and safety repairs.
• Collaborate with drivers, customers, and staff to resolve service, routing, and pay issues.
• Promote and enforce DOT compliance and company safety requirements.
• Plan loads, routes, and monitor freight to meet on-time delivery and customer requirements.
