Job summary

South Carolina Department of Transportation seeks an experienced engineering leader to plan, coordinate, and administer major regional highway projects. The role supports the Director of Preconstruction and ensures design plans and specifications comply with policy, standards, schedule, and budget.

The position involves managing Design Managers and Program Managers, overseeing staffing, scheduling, budgeting, and ensuring NEPA compliance and public involvement throughout project development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and eight (8) years of engineering work experience.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer by the South Carolina State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Surveyors.
• A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and administer major regional engineering activities.
• Supervise Program Managers and manage highway project development and budgets.
• Ensure compliance with NEPA, the Department project development process, and public involvement practices.
• Develop highway design plans and specifications for road and bridge projects; sign and seal plans as needed.
