Job description
What You'll Do:
Lead and manage transportation design projects in compliance with SCDOT, FHWA, and applicable regulatory standards
Oversee the preparation of preliminary engineering plans, right-of-way (ROW) plans, and final construction documents
Coordinate cross-functional project activities including surveying, traffic engineering, drainage/hydraulics, utilities, and environmental compliance
Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and progress reporting to ensure successful and timely delivery
Act as the primary point of contact for DOTs, counties, municipalities, and other key stakeholders
Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance to engineering staff and project teams
Review and approve design plans, technical specifications, cost estimates, and QA/QC documentation
Support business development initiatives, including proposal preparation and contract negotiations
Assist with construction phase services such as responding to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and coordinating field activities
What You'll Bring:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline (Master's degree preferred)
Professional Engineer (PE) license in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, or Florida, or the ability to obtain within 6 months
10+ years of progressive experience in roadway, bridge, and transportation design and project management
Demonstrated success managing DOT, county, and/or municipal transportation projects from concept through PS&E
Strong knowledge of DOT design manuals, AASHTO guidelines, MUTCD standards, and project delivery methodologies
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
