Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking an experienced engineering leader to oversee regional highway design and project development efforts. You will manage program managers, coordinate budgeting, scheduling and staffing while ensuring compliance with policy, standards and public involvement practices.

The role requires a PE license, a bachelor’s degree in engineering, and eight years of experience, with potential travel and outside normal hours.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and eight years of engineering experience.
Professional Engineer license (SC) required.
Valid motor vehicle operator's license required.
Experience managing highway design and project development processes.

Responsibilities

Plan, coordinate and administer major regional engineering activities.
Assist the Director of Preconstruction in managing federal and state funding programs.
Oversee Program Managers and project development activities for highway projects.
Ensure compliance with NEPA, project development processes and public involvement practices.
Sign and seal plans for right of way and construction; provide engineering testimony as expert witness.
Manage resources, including staff and consultants, to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Conduct performance evaluations, training and other personnel duties; monitor office budgets and procurement.
