Job summary

Fuss & O’Neill in Hartford, CT offers a 12-week paid Transportation Engineer internship in the Highway & Traffic group. The role focuses on highway, roadway, and traffic design, with hybrid in-office and remote work.

You will gain hands-on experience on real client projects, perform field visits, data collection, and use AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Synchro. Pursuing a civil/transportation engineering degree with GPA 3.0+ is preferred.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in civil engineering and/or transportation engineering.
• 3.0 GPA or higher.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D and/or similar programs is a plus.
• Proficiency with MS Office programs.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. of equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with roadway and traffic engineering design, including signals, signs, and pavement markings
• Support traffic studies, data collection, and analysis of traffic flow and patterns
• Contribute to transportation planning and traffic impact studies, including permit applications
• Conduct field visits, surveys, and construction support activities
• Prepare technical reports and utilize design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Synchro
