Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a licensed Professional Engineer to supervise the encroachment permits review/approval process for commercial and large residential developments within the District. The role requires coordinating with county offices and various SCDOT divisions to ensure permits meet engineering standards and guidelines.

Responsibilities include site visits when needed, coordinating with officials and developers on complex permits, and maintaining permit

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in Engineering and six (6) years of engineering work experience.
Registration as a Professional Engineer by the South Carolina State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Surveyors (PE license).
May require occasional travel.
May require working outside normal business hours or during emergencies.

Responsibilities

Oversees the encroachment permits review/approval process for commercial and large residential developments within the District.
Reviews permits for accuracy, supporting documentation, and compliance with SCDOT engineering standards, policies, and guidelines.
Coordinates with county offices and various engineering divisions within SCDOT in review of permits as necessary.
Coordinates reviews by and/or meetings with developers, local officials, district engineers, headquarters staff, etc., on complex encroachment permits to discuss and ensure compliance with state and federal engineering standards.
