Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation seeks a professional to assist with the encroachment permit review and approval process for moderate to large developments in District 6. You will review applications for accuracy, coordinate with county offices and SCDOT divisions, and provide sound engineering recommendations for approval.

You will attend site inspections, maintain permit files, and coordinate reviews among units to ensure timely responses and compliance with safety requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management; 1 year of engineering or construction management work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence.

Responsibilities

• Assist encroachment permit review and approval for moderate-to-large developments.
• Review permit applications for accuracy and compliance with SCDOT engineering standards.
• Coordinate reviews with county offices and SCDOT engineering divisions as necessary.
• Represent the District Permit Office at final and ongoing site inspections to ensure compliance with approved permit designs and safety requirements.
• Maintain encroachment permit files and tracking system to ensure accountability and timely reviews.
• Provide single response to permit applicants by coordinating comments from appropriate engineering disciplines.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
