Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking an Engineering Technician to support encroachment permits and county road projects in Florence County. You will coordinate permit reviews, assist with contract management for maintenance activities, and ensure work aligns with SCDOT plans and specifications.

Responsibilities include preparing contract documents, inspecting work, aiding in vegetation management initiatives, and supporting emergency operations, including extended shifts

Qualifications

• High school diploma or higher with technician experience.
• Certification may substitute for related experience.
• Ability to read and follow engineering plans and specs.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate/assist encroachment permit process within Florence County.
• Coordinate contract management for maintenance activities per plans.
• Assist planning/monitoring vegetation management programs.
• Prepare vegetation management contracts with specs and inspections.
• Review permit applications for compliance; meet with engineers to resolve issues.
• Assist with emergency weather operations; possible extended hours.
