Job summary

South Carolina Department of Transportation seeks a dedicated worker to support the Encroachment Permit program in Georgetown County. You will help plan, organize, and coordinate the permit process, review applications, and verify compliance with standards.

You will conduct inspections and may assist during emergencies or hazardous weather, including extended hours or 12-hour shifts. The role requires a high school diploma and at least one year of related experience, with physical demands

Qualifications

• A high school diploma and one (1) year of experience that is related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
• The physical demands involve bending, kneeling, stooping and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• May require working outside of normal schedules including weekends or night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organizing and coordinating the Encroachment Permit program in Georgetown County.
• Review, investigate and recommend approvals for encroachment permit applications.
• Verify permits for compliance with ARMS, MUTCD, Utility Accommodation policy, and traffic control plans; communicate with applicants on deficiencies.
• Perform periodic inspections of encroachment projects for compliance and policy specifications; assist in emergencies and inclement weather operations; may require extended hours or 12-hour shifts.
