Job summary

Burgess & Niple in Cincinnati is seeking a Transportation Civil Engineer Co-op for Spring or Summer 2027 to join our team of engineers and gain hands-on experience in transportation design and consulting.

You will learn design and analysis for projects for state DOTs and local municipalities, using MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer or AutoCAD/Civil3D, and develop reports and construction plans while building problem-solving and collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Current undergraduate student pursuing a B.S. in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Completion of one year coursework required.
• Strong interest in transportation engineering; co-op experience is a plus.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Able to learn PDF markup tools (BlueBeam Revu or Adobe Acrobat) and design software.
• Excellent communication and collaborative skills.

Responsibilities

• Learn design and analysis skills for transportation projects for state DOTs and local municipalities.
• Assist with roadway geometry design, pavement rehab, drainage, and traffic signage analysis.
• Support reports, scoping, and final design using design tools and standard specifications.
