Job summary

West Virginia is seeking an Engineer in Training (EIT) 2 to perform entry- to intermediate-level professional engineering work in the Design Section under the Traffic Development Section of the Engineering Division. You will prepare traffic signal and roadway lighting plans, review shop drawings, and provide construction follow-up while coordinating with utilities and public agencies.

Qualifications include an ABET-accredited degree and an Engineer Intern certification, with substitution

Qualifications

• EIT certification required or by substitution Master of Science in civil engineering.
• Two (2) years of paid non-professional level related engineering experience after bachelor's degree.
• Substitution: MS in civil eng may replace required experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare in-house traffic signal and roadway lighting plans.
• Review manufacturer shop drawings and provide construction follow-up.
• Develop plans for signing, pavement markings, and temporary traffic control; determine ROW needs.
• Coordinate with utility companies and public agencies; support field and contractor personnel to resolve issues.
