Job Summary

This position is responsible for the efficient timing and phasing of traffic signals operated and maintained by ADOT, supervising staff, and collaborating with local agencies for traffic signal coordination.

Job Duties

1. Develop traffic signal timing plans using traffic modeling software.
2. Implement and monitor traffic signal timing plans, including after-hours adjustments.
3. Collaborate with agencies and stakeholders to coordinate traffic signals across jurisdictions.
4. Research and develop hardware and software specifications for traffic signals.
5. Manage personnel, including coaching, training, and performance evaluations.
6. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of MUTCD, ADOT Traffic Guidelines, and Traffic Safety principles.
• Proficiency in traffic signal modeling and analysis software (e.g., SYNCHRO, TRANSYNC).
• Effective communication and technical report writing skills.
• Ability to make decisions on traffic operations and collaborate with stakeholders.
• Leadership in coaching and developing team members.

Qualifications

Preferred: 4-year degree in civil, systems, or electrical engineering; PE licensure; or 15+ years of relevant experience.
