About the Role

Our client, a leading transportation planning and engineering firm with a strong presence across South Africa, is seeking a dedicated Transportation Engineer to join their team, remotely supporting projects across the country, with a focus on initiatives in and around Welkom, Free State . This role is pivotal in developing innovative solutions for road network planning, traffic management, and public transport infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical aptitude and a passion for creating efficient and sustainable transportation systems. You will work on a variety of projects, contributing to improved mobility and connectivity for communities. As this is a fully remote role, you will leverage cutting-edge collaboration tools to engage with project teams and stakeholders across different locations, contributing expertise to projects impacting regions like Welkom, Free State .

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct traffic impact studies, traffic modeling, and operational analyses for various development projects.


• Develop conceptual designs and detailed plans for road network improvements, intersections, and interchanges.


• Plan and optimize public transportation routes, schedules, and infrastructure.


• Prepare traffic management plans for construction projects and special events.


• Analyze traffic safety data and propose effective accident reduction measures.


• Utilize transportation modeling software (e.g., VISSIM, SIDRA INTERSECTION, Cube) for simulations and analysis.


• Collaborate with urban planners, civil engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate transportation solutions.


• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and proposals for clients and authorities.


• Stay abreast of advancements in transportation engineering, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), and sustainable mobility.


• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field with a specialization in Transportation Engineering.


• A minimum of 6 years of experience in transportation planning and design.


• Professional registration with ECSA (Pr. Eng. or Techni Eng.) is highly desirable.


• Proficiency in transportation modeling and simulation software.


• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with an ability to interpret complex data.


• Excellent report writing and presentation skills.


• Demonstrated experience in traffic impact assessment and road design.


• Familiarity with relevant South African transportation policies and guidelines.
