Job summary

Our client in South Africa seeks a Transportation Engineer to join a forward‑thinking engineering and planning consultancy. You will work on traffic studies, road design, public transport planning, and traffic impact assessments, with the flexibility to collaborate remotely.

The role requires a strong analytical mindset, 5+ years of experience in transportation engineering, and familiarity with SA regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Professional registration with ECSA (Pr Eng or EIT) preferred.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in transportation engineering.
• Proficiency in traffic analysis and simulation software.
• Knowledge of SA regulations and standards.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct traffic volume studies, speed analysis, and capacity assessments.
• Perform traffic impact analyses for new developments.
• Design road geometry, intersections, and traffic control measures.
• Develop traffic management plans for construction projects.
• Analyze public transport operations and propose service improvements.
• Use VISSIM or SIDRA for analysis and design.
• Prepare technical reports, drawings and presentations.
• Collaborate with urban planners, architects, and engineers.
• Liaise with municipal authorities to meet project requirements.
• Stay updated on best practices and emerging technologies.
