Placements24 is seeking a Civil Design Engineer specializing in infrastructure for a fully remote role. You will contribute to the design of roads, utilities, and site development while coordinating with teams across locations. The ideal candidate holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering, is registered with ECSA as Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng, and has at least seven years of relevant experience in civil

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Professional registration with ECSA as Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng is required.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in civil infrastructure design (roads, earthworks, utilities).
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar design software.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed designs for roads, stormwater systems, water and sewer reticulation, and site grading.
• Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents using CAD software.
• Conduct feasibility studies and site assessments for new infrastructure projects.
• Perform engineering calculations for structural elements, earthworks, and hydraulic systems.
• Ensure designs comply with municipal standards, national regulations, and environmental guidelines.
• Collaborate with project managers, surveyors, architects, and contractors for seamless execution.
• Provide technical support during construction, address RFIs, and review shop drawings.
• Manage project design tasks, ensure schedules and quality standards are met.
• Identify and propose innovative design solutions to enhance efficiency and sustainability.
• Contribute to tender preparation and proposals for new projects.

About the Role

Our client, a forward-thinking infrastructure development firm, is seeking a highly motivated Civil Design Engineer specializing in infrastructure to join their fully remote team. This role is central to the design and planning of essential public and private infrastructure projects, including roads, utilities, and site development. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in civil engineering principles and a passion for creating sustainable and functional environments. As a remote employee, you will leverage advanced communication tools to collaborate with project teams and stakeholders across various locations, contributing significantly to projects that will shape communities. This position offers the unique advantage of working from anywhere while playing a key role in impactful infrastructure development, with a connection to our operational base near Welkom, Free State .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed designs for roads, stormwater systems, water and sewer reticulation, and site grading.
• Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents using CAD software.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• Professional registration with ECSA as a Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng is required.
• A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in civil infrastructure design, with a focus on roads, earthworks, and utilities.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar design software.
• Solid understanding of South African engineering standards, zoning laws, and environmental regulations.
• Experience with hydraulic and hydrological analysis for stormwater management.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, vital for remote collaboration.
