Purpose

Execute complex technical transportation engineering techniques, procedures and criteria for transportation and infrastructure projects. Assist in developing sustainable transportation solutions to make communities more livable by reducing traffic congestion, promoting multiple modes of transportation, supporting land development, and improving safety for all users.

Responsibilities

• Leadership and Direction: Receive general instruction on key objectives for execution. Work is completed using advanced engineering techniques and design principles and is reviewed by more senior staff to ensure application of sound professional judgement. Review work produced by junior staff for quality assurance. May serve as a lead in the technical direction over other less experienced engineers and provide guidance, mentorship, and delegation of assignments.
• Operational and Company Level: Work closely with senior members to learn about transportation engineering and planning. Assist with marketing the firm's capabilities, coordinate with other disciplines, and support internal and external communication.
• Project Work: Collaborate with project teams on transportation projects. Prepare maps, graphics, data analysis, conduct research, develop solutions, and present recommendations. Prepare engineering plans, reports, and assist with grant applications. Participate in construction assignments, draft various documents, and conduct field visits. Monitor project progress, provide technical presentations, and ensure quality control. Mentor junior staff and lead specific analyses and design aspects.
• Success Metrics and Competencies: Ability to work independently and in teams, manage multiple projects, communicate effectively, and demonstrate problem-solving skills. Experience with roadway or traffic project plans and a strong data analysis capability are preferred.
• Qualifications: Bachelor's in civil engineering or related field, 3+ years of relevant experience, proficiency in Microsoft Office, knowledge of relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD, Synchro), and a valid driver’s license. PE registration or eligibility is preferred.
• Physical Demands and Environment: Primarily office work with occasional outdoor site visits, involving typical physical activities and some travel.
