Description of Work

Buy Fresh Buy Local Nebraska is a member-based marketing, promotion, and education program that has been working since 2006 to support our state’s farmers and ranchers and to connect consumers to Nebraska-grown food. We believe that local food is powerful and can improve our quality of life and Nebraska’s vitality.

As a Buy Fresh Buy Local Program Coordinator II, you will:

  • Encourage the production, marketing, and purchasing of local foods through outreach, promotion, collaboration, and educational activities.
  • Assist local food groups in forming cooperative businesses, which may include facilitation, providing resources, technical assistance, education, and referrals.
  • Network and collaborate with staff and faculty on campus and external partners to increase local foods market share in both rural and urban environments.
  • Educate the public about the benefits of local foods systems (economic, environmental, and social) and how they can access local foods.
  • Seek and secure membership for the sustainability of the program.
  • Secure grants to further the work of the program focused primarily on the Buy Fresh Buy Local Nebraska program.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree plus two years of experience in program communication and information coordination roles.
  • Experience implementing and delivering educational programming.
  • Knowledge local food systems.
  • Experience must demonstrate excellent communication (oral and written) and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office including Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel (or similar programs).
Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are preferred but not required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, communications, or related field.
  • Experience with program evaluation.
  • Experience with food cooperatives.
  • Experience organizing events.
  • Grant writing experience.
