Baxter & Woodman is hiring an entry-level Transportation Engineer in Peoria Heights, IL. You will work on design and construction engineering for transportation projects for state, county, and local agencies.

Role involves collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams, using Civil3D/OpenRoads, and supporting project delivery while meeting IDOT standards.

• Process Federal Aid Phase I/II projects for clients.
• Assist construction engineering for municipal/county/state clients.
• Support project engineers/managers with delivery tasks.

About the role, Your Impact

Baxter & Woodman has a rewarding opportunity for an entry-level Transportation Engineer in our Peoria Heights, IL office. This position will primarily consist of design and construction engineering efforts on a variety of transportation projects for State, County, and Local Agencies. This team-orientated position will include working with Baxter & Woodman’s diverse disciplines and offices.

What your day-to-day will look like, what you will learn on the job

• Design Roadway, Underground Utility, and Infrastructure improvements using Civil 3D or Bentley OpenRoads Designer.
• Conduct drainage, traffic, and various engineering studies.
• Complete general civil engineering services for municipal, county and state clients.
• Complete engineering plans and specifications using IDOT Standards.
• Process Federal Aid Phase I and II projects for a variety of clients.
• Assist with construction engineering services for municipal, county and state clients.
• Assist project engineers and managers with a wide variety of tasks required for project delivery.

Education Requirement

• B.S. degree in Civil Engineering

• Ability to travel throughout Baxter & Woodman’s service area (own transportation).
• Ability to independently handle a variety of ongoing tasks and responsibilities.
• Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Anticipated F.E. (Fundamentals of Engineering) certification.
• Knowledge of designing roadway and underground improvements with Civil3D or Bentley OpenRoads Designer.
• Experience with Geopak.

Compensation

The pay range for this role is $67,000 to $80,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
