Job description

Newrest has an exciting position as a Transportation Dock Supervisor. This individual is responsible for overseeing the performance of the Dock Team, ensuring team members are trained and compliant with SOPs, meeting performance requirements, and executing duties safely and efficiently. This individual also maintains the weekly schedule, handles reporting, provides ongoing coaching, and implements corrective actions. The position reports to the Dock Manager.

Essential Functions
  • Maintain weekly schedule, manage coverage needs, and request additional team members as demand requires.
  • Effectively delegate duties to Leads for coverage needs.
  • Act proactively throughout the shift to ensure Dock performance standards are met regarding staging, security checks, loading, and KDT times.
  • Track daily team performance; provide daily and weekly reporting on KDT performance, security updates, and team performance metrics.
  • Ensure that any flights with compressed or at‑risk timelines are managed according to the At‑Risk Flight SOP.
  • Build and lead a strong team that proactively manages the dock space while ensuring cleanliness, hygiene, and safety standards are met.
  • Conduct or ensure daily communication meetings with the team.
  • Identify areas for improvement and develop action plans to increase performance.
  • Coordinate with all related departments to ensure that all operational goals are met.
  • Coach team members on performance so that individual, team, and departmental goals are met.
  • Conduct corrective action meetings based on team member performance.
  • Ensure that team members are up to date and compliant with training, safety initiatives, and safety culture.

  • Maintain a sense of positivity and professionalism in communications and execution of duties.
  • Effectively complete all other duties as directed by management.
  • Regular and timely attendance is expected for the position.

Education/Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s in Operations, Logistics, Business Management, or related field preferred.
  • 2–4 years of experience in inflight catering or airport hub environment, manufacturing, logistics, or food industry managing employees.
Qualifications
  • Strong leadership experience in turnaround environments.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to communicate from non‑exempt to upper management levels.
  • Ability to effectively handle conflict and de‑escalate emotionally charged situations.
  • Good understanding of OSHA, HR, and other employment laws.
  • Good knowledge of investigation procedures and root cause analysis.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and operational processes.
  • Strategic thinker with creative and excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
  • Resilient self‑starter who can act independently and learn quickly in a rapidly evolving environment.
  • Aptitude in showing self‑initiative and follow‑through.
  • Detail‑oriented with ability to see the big picture.
  • Strong ability with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent organizational and motivational skills.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and observational ability.
  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting data to effectively manage risk.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with site operations, functional leaders, and external clients and vendors.
