Responsibilities
- Maintain quality production standards for all accounts.
- Obtain control sheets and assign team drivers to flights daily.
- Inspect dock area to ensure employees have required equipment and trucks depart as scheduled.
- Verify all teams are catering correct aircraft and flights.
- Ensure employees comply with safety procedures and Airport Transport Authority badging requirements.
- Collaborate with management staff to improve unit performance.
- Assist teams with late flights and equipment changes.
- Obtain information from airlines on service requirements and updates.
- Maintain radio contact with Operations Manager, meal planner, and leads during operation.
- Conduct regular kitchen checks to confirm no equipment left behind after flights.
- Ensure security and proper transportation of galleys, maintaining vehicle cleanliness.
- Guarantee safety, quality, and compliance with customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
- Validate airline specifications, diagrams, and other standards for accuracy.
- Ensure all products are coded per Gate Gourmet procedures.
- Work with maintenance staff to ensure preventive maintenance of machinery and fleet; report issues in a timely manner.
- Maintain company policies, procedures, and specification books for airline customers.
- Track financial goals related to material, productivity, overtime, and labor.
- Prepare management reports (e.g., attendance, HACCP, labor) as required.
- Supervise drivers and driver assistants; conduct performance evaluations, coaching, counseling, and corrective action; liaise with HR and support functions.
- Manage workflow balancing and daily manpower planning, assigning responsibilities and workstations.
- Determine staffing needs for shifts and call in employees for coverage (sick, vacation, medical leave, volume changes).
- Ensure compliance with Wage & Hour policy, ensuring rest & meal breaks and processing accuracy.
- Train and monitor employees on work procedures to maximize productivity and minimize food expenses.
- Monitor daily manpower plan and schedule employees.
- Drive employee retention and reduce turnover.
- Coaching, counseling, and corrective action for union-represented employees, ensuring correct cost centers, job titles, and pay rates.
- Maintain required training completion, including ServSafe compliance.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree preferred.
- 2+ years supervisory experience in high-volume, manufacturing, food production, or catering environments (or equivalent).
- Strong leadership skills and ability to manage a staff of 30+ hourly employees.
- Labor relations experience a plus.
- Comfortable with all levels of employees and able to drive positive program change.
- Ability to train others and provide feedback (positive and negative) daily.
- Excellent time-management and multitasking skills.
- Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and leadership abilities.
- Innovative mindset with a drive to improve operations.
- Basic computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- ServSafe certification required; preferred.
