Job summary

The City of Bellevue Transportation Department seeks an Engineering Supervisor to lead the Development Review team, guiding engineers in plan review and ensuring compliance with Bellevue codes and standards. The role collaborates with developers, consultants, and other city staff to manage permit reviews and decision-making for roadway projects.

Reporting to the Transportation Development Review Manager, you will provide oversight on project scope, schedules, and staff performance, while serving

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or closely related technical field.
• Five+ years of progressively responsible experience in transportation or traffic engineering and project management.
• Washington State Professional Engineering license is required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Transportation Development Review team and provide direct supervision to staff.
• Mentor, train, and evaluate staff performance.
• Oversee review of development proposals for compliance with City policy, procedures, and codes.
• Assign permits, monitor project schedules, and review staff communications.
• Ensure technical accuracy of division review work and support construction inspection.
• Participate in process improvements and code updates to increase division efficiency.
• Represent the Transport Department at public meetings and expert witness in land use decisions.
• Collaborate with other divisions, departments and outside agencies.
• Provide leadership and technical direction for staff working on transportation design and standards.
• Be a team lead for review staff, construction staff, and other teams.
