Job summary

DOWL is seeking an enthusiastic Transportation Intern to provide engineering assistance on a wide variety of projects. The objective of this internship program is to give hands‑on experience and mentorship while contributing to Transportation & Structures, Water & Environmental Services, Civil & Land Development, and Construction‑Related Services groups.

Qualifications

• One to two years of college-level course work toward a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• Prior work experience in construction or civil engineering related fields is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist with field investigations, analysis of alternate solutions, project design, and construction inspection.
• Perform engineering calculations in support of design projects.
• Tabulate bid items and calculate construction bid quantities from plans and specifications to estimate construction costs.
• Perform AutoCAD drafting support.
• Prepare and route project related correspondence and record keeping.
• Assist with writing and editing of construction specifications and technical reports.
• Other engineering related duties as assigned.
