Job summary

DOWL is seeking motivated Transportation Interns to assist with transportation planning and design projects in Montana. You will work alongside experienced engineers, gain exposure to data collection, analysis, and design packages, and contribute to field work as needed.

This summer internship offers mentorship across Civil, Water & Environmental Services, and Structures, with hands-on software use and the chance to build core engineering skills in a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• One year of college coursework toward a B.S. in civil engineering.
• Prior civil engineering-related work experience desirable.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with field investigations, analysis of alternative solutions, and project design.
• Perform engineering calculations in support of design projects.
• Calculate construction quantities from plans and specifications to tabulate bid items and estimate construction costs.
• Perform AutoCAD and or MicroStation drafting support.
• Prepare and route project-related correspondence and record keeping.
• Assist with writing and editing construction specifications and technical reports.
• Complete other engineering-related duties as assigned.
