Job summary

VS Engineering seeks a Civil Design Engineer to join our Northern & Lexington, KY team in a hybrid role focused on infrastructure projects. You will gain hands-on experience in civil engineering design while collaborating with experienced project managers to advance your career in transportation and infrastructure design.

We value teamwork, growth, and practical, real-world project exposure across city, county, KYTC, and DOT transportation initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• EIT in Kentucky required or PE registration.
• 4+ years in transportation project design (KYTC, county, municipal projects preferred).
• 4+ years using MicroStation and Bentley OpenRoads Designer.
• AutoCAD Civil 3D proficiency preferred.
• Drainage software StormCAD and CDSS skills.
• MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) proficient.

Responsibilities

• Lead design calculations, reports, planning preparation, and roadway modeling for transportation projects.
• Assist office leadership with proposal development and preliminary project evaluations.
• Develop relationships with public agencies and other firms to enhance project coordination efforts.
• Coordinate project tasks and communicate status updates to project managers and supervisors.
• Support Indianapolis and regional offices on a variety of civil engineering infrastructure projects.
