Job summary

Thomas & Hutton is seeking a Transportation Designer - Engineer in Training to shape roadway and transportation design projects in the Southeast, working with mentors who value relationships as much as results. You will prepare construction drawings, perform geometric calculations, and coordinate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver quality designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• 3+ years of experience working on transportation design projects.
• EIT certification preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of MicroStation V8 and InRoads or GEOPAK.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
• Ability to read engineering plans and perform basic calculations.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare construction drawings, layouts, and exhibits per guidelines.
• Perform geometric calculations and estimate construction quantities using CAD tools.
• Assist with the design and development of transportation improvement projects.
• Coordinate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to support project delivery.
• Produce and refine design files, ensuring accuracy, quality, and adherence to project standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor to support transportation projects.
