Job summary

DC Department of Transportation is seeking a Data Scientist within the Innovation and Performance Division. You will apply data engineering, analytics, and visualization to monitor asset conditions and support informed decisions.

Strong skills in Python, Tableau, and ArcGIS are highly valued, along with clear communication and project management mindset. The role emphasizes open science practices, producing data dictionaries and reproducible code, and working on data-rich transportation projects

Qualifications

Degree in behavioral or social sciences or related field.
Combination of education and experience in behavioral/social sciences acceptable.
Four years of related experience in data science or analytics preferred.

Responsibilities

Obtain, merge, reshape, clean, and evaluate data quality for datasets used in DDOT analytics.
Apply descriptive, predictive analytics, and machine learning to understand patterns and relations.
Create data dictionaries, annotated code, and open, reproducible work products.
