Citian is seeking a Transportation Data Scientist to develop state-of-the-art machine learning models for traffic safety, mobility, and city planning in Washington, DC. You will collaborate with engineers, product managers, and domain experts to derive actionable intelligence from diverse data sources.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in data science, strong Python/SQL skills, NLP experience, and familiarity with geospatial data and ML frameworks.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of data science experience ideally within transportation.
• Strong knowledge of Python, SQL, and Python data science libraries.
• Experience with NLP and large language models.
• Experience with geospatial data (PostGIS, GeoPandas).
• Familiarity with ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow).
• Excellent communication and collaboration in cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Model development: build and optimize data science models from diverse data sources, including textual data.
• Apply ML/AI techniques to create predictive and prescriptive solutions.
• Data preprocessing: clean and transform large datasets for analysis and model training.
• Feature engineering to improve model performance and accuracy.
• Model deployment and evaluation with robust metrics and monitoring.
• Collaborate with engineers, PMs, and domain experts to meet business needs.
• Stay updated on NLP/AI research and apply relevant advances.
